Poetry Gallery 2.0
We are thrilled to announce the second edition of Poetry Gallery, an evolving series of public art installations, activations, and collaborations that explore the interplay between art and its creator in spoken word performance.
At its core, Poetry Gallery is a poetry listening exhibit: poetry is experienced solely through headphones, directing attendees to focus on the spoken word as a sensory experience, stripped of authorial personality, bravado, or showmanship.
The first edition of Poetry Gallery featured 10 poets from the vibrant New York literary scene and beyond. Their recorded readings were paired with living plant installations and played on loop through headphones, creating a surreal blend of organic and concrete environments in a brutalist space filled with billowing fog and ambient lighting.
For the second edition, we are excited to present two works each from five acclaimed spoken word artists:
• Angel Prost, musician from Frost Children
• Kareem Rahma, multi-hyphenate creative known for Subway Takes
• Mackenzie Thomas, writer and content creator
• Victoria Mbabazi, poet published in over 30 books and compilations
• Finlay Mangan, writer and fashion model
The pieces will once again be presented in an immersive audio installation format, inviting audiences to engage with the words as pure sound.
‍
The event will also include captivating live performances by:
• Concrete Husband, an ambient flute artist and techno DJ celebrated for opening for Eartheater
• KatzPascale, an experimental cello/saxophone duo with collaborations ranging from Porches to the Terrifier 3 soundtrack
Join us as we reimagine the way poetry is experienced—beyond authorship and performance, into the realm of sound and sensation.
A special thank you to our partners BY.ALEXANDER
