When I find a track with a long build, a clean bass-line, and vocals that are the quality of or in this case happen to be provided by Bob Moses… I immediately imagine myself as a British radio DJ and can’t help but shout:
MASSIVE TUNE MATE! THIS ONE’S GOING STRAIGHT TO THE TOP BRUV, I KNOW IT. HOTTEST TRACK IN THE WORLD.
With this anecdote in mind, Jonas Rathsman’s remix of Bob Moses’ Back Down has me screaming. The vocals don’t emerge for the first minutes as Rathsman sets the mood with a set of obscure worldly noises that will have you closing your eyes and teleporting to another time and place- a better one at that. When the iconic vocals do come in, they do so in a manner which supports and colors the roots of the track which Rothsman planted. Enjoy this complete re-imagination of an already fantastic record; I personally find it to be an improvement.
