Only problem with this list, it’s missing mgk’s lace up at the 1 spot

    • By Brian December 27, 2010 at 8:54 am • add @

Lace Up was definitely a fresh mixtape – one of many that couldn’t be included in this roundup, however!

you should get polls going to let all the kollectors decide too. solid list however i think that wale and chiddy should have been switched

            I really don’t think no genre deserves the # 2 spot…

Good point Talk. It seems a bit late to add polls to the existing top 10, but we will look into starting polls in the new year!

Webby definitely deserves to be on here. This is the very first time you’ve disappointed me kollection. Smh.

I gotta say, I disagree with #10, but I like the rest of your list. Honestly, it’s tough picking a “Top 10″ when there were truly so many amazing tapes this year. Hell, Webby’s White Noise LP is among our top downloaded tapes of all time. This would be a good one to take to a vote, shall we?

Kush & OJ is definately the best mixtape of 2010 hands downnn!!! and Finally Famous Volume 3 is right behind it!

hey guys thanks for all the feedback. only kollectors are this passionate about music!!!

with regards to webby, I did overlook the white noise lp, which as brian said is one of our most downloaded mixtapes of all time. even though i personally don’t listen to chris webby that often, i have a lot of respect for what he’s doing and obviously he’s making great music if so many people are noticing his absence on this list.

as for kush & oj and best in the burbs, I tried to keep the list to mixtapes that the kollection has posted (a lot of people would say fabolous’ there’s no competition 2 was the best drop of the year but we didn’t post it). i’m glad you guys are keeping us honest, and it’s great to be able to share/discuss different artists with other people who know a thing or two about music. there was so much good music this year, ten spots didn’t do the artists justice.

hope you guys liked some of the others on the countdown, can’t wait to see what happens in 2011!

Well put Camel. Just keep bringin us the hits and we’ll stay happy.

To be and independent music blog you guys sure did who heavy on the mainstream names. I’ll agree that Mac Miller’s K.I.D.S. Tape was number one, but I’d argue for like Eddy B & Tim Gunter’s Dear North Carolina Welcome Back. If you’re talking mainstream I don’t know how you could leave off Chris Webby and Sam Adams; although generally known as ‘frat rap’ both were produced extremely well. Overall a good mix, but I’d look a little deeper when naming the best of the year. Keep up the good work…
