Things Can Only Get Better (Radio Edit) – Cedric Gervais & Howard Jones

Cedric Gervais didn’t hit my radar until I first heard his Summertime Sadness remix (below) on Group Therapy Radio. That track blew me away, and has had me hooked ever since. His most recent release, featuring vocals from Howard Jones, Things Can Only Get Better, is an uplifting progressive house track, with a huge melody and big synths. The 3:35 track starts strong and just doesn’t let go until the very end – it’s a beautiful radio rip that has me itching to get my hands on the full version.

Cedric Gervais ‘Things Can Only Get Better’ is a radio ready, melodic, progressive production featuring the wonderful vocals of Howard Jones. A summer hit, ready for festival stages and air waves the world over.

The Great Gatsby Previews

It looks like The Great Gatsby’s media push is in full swing as we enter the last week before the film hits theaters. We’ve been teased over the past few weeks with snippets and full-length streams of tracks on the official soundtrack, and I really think that we’re all in for something special. With tracks from The XX, Nero, Florence & The Machine, Sia and more, this soundtrack has the potential to be something spectacular.

I’ve pulled together a few of the full-length streams from Interscope Records’ Soundcloud for your listening pleasure. I’ll be sure to keep this updated if anything else is released. If you’re interested in hearing more from The Great Gatsby’s soundtrack, check out Interscope’s Soundtrack Sampler featuring a few extra 30 second clips from other artists like will.i.am, Beyoncé & André 3000 and Gotye.

Real ft. Yasmin – Gorgon City

I know I’m late to this party, but hell, the track is just too catchy not to share. Real ft. Yasmin comes off of Gorgon City’s 2013 EP, Real EP. It’s my favorite of the four track set – a downtempo, disco-esque vocal beauty that had me nodding along the whole time. That wavy beat, driving kick and low-key melody all highlight Yasmin’s beautiful vocals. Unfortunately I can’t share a free download for this, but the EP is available on iTunes, so support if you can!

Gorgon City burst into 2013 with the release of the ‘Real’ EP, a collection of four new tracks delving equally into garage, house and 21st century disco grooves.

The duo – made up of producers Foamo and RackNRuin combined forces through their shared love of jungle, house, grime, hip-hop and 2-step and have been winning critical acclaim from genre heavyweights like Diplo, DJ T, Mistajam & Annie Mac with their dark, clinical party bangers.

Favorite Song ft. Childish Gambino – Chance the Rapper

I’m a few days late to this party, but this single from Chance the Rapper’s Acid Rap, featuring Childish Gambino, is a pretty fun track and worth a download. Gambino’s verse feels the most refined to me, but Chance’s style has its own charm – on top of this summertime instrumental, I’m not sure either of these guys could do any wrong.

Chicago’s Chance The Rapper finally releases his highly anticipated project ‘Acid Rap’. The 13 track project features guest appearances by Twista, Childish Gambino, Action Bronson, Ab-Soul, BJ The Chicago Kid and more. Production comes from Nate Fox, Blended Babies, Jake One, DJ Ozone and more.

Sierra Leone (The Remixes) – Mt. Eden

I first covered this song during the first month ever running The Kollection – yep, way back in June of 2010. Today, Mt. Eden has officially released the track on Ultra Records, along with a few complementary remixes. For me, this really was one of the first dubstep songs I ever heard, and it is absolutely the track that drew me into the genre. Those ghostly vocals, big drops and that grime (which was oh-so-amazing back in 2010) makes this a classic. If you haven’t heard it, take a listen to Sierra Leone and check out more Mt. Eden on Soundcloud.

Big Ships – e-dubble

Wow – it’s been a year since we last shared music from e-dubble. Quite the hiatus, on our part. His newest track, released today, Big Ships, might actually be one of his best tracks yet. For any new Kollectors, this song will be a great introduction to e-dubble. I love this instrumental, and e-dubble really has really refined his lyricism and vocal style, making this a must-download in my books.
