Eskimo Boy + Climbing Walls (Draper Remixes) – Strange Talk

Here we have older, quality chillstep remixes of Aussie indie act Strange Talk’s “Eskimo Boy” and “Climbing Walls”. Oxford-educated Draper is a UK dubstep producer of whom I’m unfamiliar with, but his massive sound has inevitably made its way into my Kollection. Draper’s creative use of the original lyrics of “Eskimo Boy” chime in amongst swarming synths, making this an energetic, smooth drum and bass gem. The “Climbing Walls” rework is equally solid, with a bouncier, optimistic feel courtesy of those buzzing synths. Grab ahold of these now, and support some of Draper’s original works via his SoundCloud.

If you like these sounds, be sure to catch on to fellow UK producer, Blackmill.

Somebody That I Used to Know (The FatRat Remix) – Gotye

Before you freak out about the fact that we’re posting a “Somebody That I Used to Know” remix, take a deep breath. FatRat is amazing at creating remixes that have the perfect balance of the original track, while giving it an upbeat, joyous, and whimsical feel. Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” is the new “Pumped Up Kicks” when it comes to remixes, but this one is very refreshing and gives me the ability to listen to it again after it’s been played to near-death. Download this and give some feedback! I love to know what’s going through the minds of kollectors.

Somebody That I Used to Know remix is pretty sick… You’re right bout there being a ton of remixes for this, but The FatRat does an awesome job mixing it with a gnarly beat and putting his own personal touch on it. And whoa I’m pretty much obsessed with this Don’t Stop remix! Unreal! Nice work with these ones Chels.

Not gonna lie, I was about to hit you with an exasperated comment about another Gotye remix, but this is actually pretty solid!

Maybe you should do an interview with this guy. He seems to grow pretty fast (just hit 100.000 plays on his remix on soundcloud) and nobody seems to really know him…

Ass Back Home (Remix) – Timeflies

I’m sure by now we have all accepted the fact that Cal and Rez from Timeflies continue to exceed our expectations every week when it comes to beloved “Timeflies Tuesday.” This week, Rez remixed Neon Hitch’s chorus from “Ass Back Home,” creating a powerful punch for Cal’s charming voice to deliver some serious raps. The video is also really awesome, showing a compilation of footage from their tour, and being able to see the duo progress and grow so much over the past year is so amazing. This Neon Hitch-approved track is one you don’t want to miss!

Balloons of Haus – Chi Duly

Brooklyn-based producer, Chi Duly, reworks Abel Tesfaye’s (more affectionately known as The Weeknd) first mixtape, House of Balloons, lifting it up to a DJ set-appropriate level. These are not electronic bangers, but rather sensual mid-tempo creations that take all the sensuality that is The Weeknd to a dimly-lit, clubroom level. The remix project has already been praised by The Weeknd himself via Twitter – a huge compliment to the tasteful production talents of Duly.

“He’s talking about what every other artist you hear in the club is talking about except he’s artistic, emotionally believable. The Weeknd’s subject matter is already club friendly. The pace however was only bedroom friendly. My project still retains that laid back, mellow uptempo R&B vibe but picks up on a harder electro vibe with the Dirty Diana remix.” – Chi Duly

                  DJ Trademark’s Party Pack Friday

With the advent of electronic music making its way into music more and more, DJ Trademark teamed up with The Kollection to bring a bi-monthly mix that serves to highlight underplayed, and at times not-as-known, “perfect-for-parties” music. This just under hour-long mix is full of pulsating and high-energy tracks that should have you turning up the volume in no time. I had heard of a couple – “L’Amour (Original Mix)” by the Bingo Players and Set Fire To The Rain (A Stupid Hole Bootleg)” by Cazzette come to mind – but the majority of these, on their own, are certainly deserving of individual plays. Combining them into a mix results in the music you want while at the gym, pregaming, and/or for starting your own rager. For a first mix, in hopefully an on-going series with The Kollection, I would say this is pretty good and I look forward to seeing what Trademark brings us in 2 weeks.

Here’s DJ Trademark’s thoughts on the mix – “This first mix in the series is really a reflection of where music is at in clubs around the world. I tried to encompass the drops that artists like Bingo Players and Chuckie are using in their records as well as those stadium hooks and leads that Axwell, Nicky Romero and Michael Woods are famous for. The last four tracks in this mix are packed with some of the best sounds house music has to offer, ending with a fresh take on maybe the biggest anthem of dance music thus far, “One More Time”. With festival season right around the corner, these are the tracks that have those warm weather vibes and melodies to keep your head bouncing.”

This is unbelievably dope. Good to see DJ Trademark adapting his content to current trends.

Tonight Is the Night (Feat. Timeflies) – Outasight

Did you hear that? That was the sound of my jaw hitting the floor when I heard this unexpected banger from Outasight and Timeflies… together. I know that was probably the cheesiest line I’ve ever written, and I’ll admit it, but this is probably one of the biggest and best remixes that Timeflies has done to date. Turn up your stereo to it’s maximum volume, put your rage face on, and enjoy this new womp-heavy remix from Cal and Rez!
