Hold You - Wale Remix

Hold You – Wale Remix

by Brian on August 24, 2010

Just spotted this at PnP and I’m lovin’ this Wale freeverse. He lays down on top of Gyptian’s Hold You track that you all have heard a couple of times now on the Kollection, and he lays it down well. I’m a big fan of Wale, a big fan of this sample, and I think this track is an overall success. Grab it for free below. Kollect on…

Do The Dance - Rockie Fresh

Do The Dance – Rockie Fresh

by Brian on August 21, 2010

Rockie Fresh is a new artist on the scene, and in this track, Do The Dance he does an awesome job of sampling from Justice’s D.A.N.C.E. to create a chill rap track. This is a solid remix that takes a great original, takes a new perspective on the song, and then works to create a new track that could stand alone as an original. Well done Rockie Fresh, I expect to see more great things from this artist.

Plain and simple, this dubstep remix is ill, taking on Florence and the Machine and turning it into a hard hitting track with a solid bass. Slof Man does a dope job of building up to drops throughout the whole track, sampling the vocals tastefully, and overall creating a chill song to sit back to. Grab it below for free!

Eli sent me this track a couple weeks ago, and I’ve been waiting to post it since I first heard the song. When KAM told me that he was going to be rapping on top of the Jakwob remix of Starry Eyed, by Ellie Goulding, I was a little hesitant to give my approval. The original remix is a heavy hitting dubstep track, and to be honest, I didn’t think a rap on top of it could be pulled off. But here we are, Eli has managed to put together a dope remix that sounds good with the lyrics and doesn’t detract from the original song. Enjoy!

PS. I’ve been getting sick of the album artwork here on The K. It’s simple and clean, but when you have it posted on 200+ songs, it can become a little bland. Today I took the opportunity to make 10 new album artwork variations. Kollect em all and enjoy the new eye candy!

There’s tons of remixes for Gyptian’s Hold You, one of which has been featured here on the K before; some are good and some fail to stay true to the original song.

This remix, On My Way by ILLijah successfully stays true to the mood and emotion behind the original song while adding unique and catchy lyrics on top. Not a party tune at all, but definitely one that you can chill to, On My Way is a laid back, well versed remix of Gyptian’s original, and for that, it deserves a spot right here on the K. Grab it below for free:

I’m sure everyone’s familiar with Ice Cream Paint Job by Dorrough but you havent heard it like this. Although it still has Dorrough it is significantly different…and I like it! It’s slower and definitely not the party song the original was but still a dope song. The song is really catchy and a new version of a great song is always refreshing.

Sonny Shotz of The Dean’s List dropped another leak last night off his upcoming mixtape, December 31st, which is a retake of the classic American Woman. This is a fairly unique style of music coming from Sonny, retaking a rock anthem and turning it into a fast paced, catchy hip hop track. I’ve listened to this song a few times and it’s definitely been growing on me, so be sure you listen through a couple times. Grab the leak for free below:

This is one of the few remixes I’ve found where an artist can take a hit and remix it so masterfully that you’d be tempted to think you’re listening to an original. In this case, Riot In Paris takes Under the Bridge by RHCP and turns it into a laid back rap track. Somewhere in the middle, they throw some synths on top of the track to add another level of sound. If you like this remix like I do, be sure to check out Riot In Paris’s Myspace page.

So I found this song a couple days ago and every time I hear it, I can’t help but start noddin’ my head. As soon as the beat dropped, I could tell that this song was a banger and had to post it up! Its extremely melodic and keeps you on your toes by changing up background noises throughout the entire song. The vocals are sped up from the original track and the flow perfectly with the rest of the track. The craziest part of this song is the drop, right about 2.27 into it. After this point is where my head nodding begins and doesn’t stop until the final note. R/D is definitely not new to the dubstep scene as you can tell by his huge popularity and history in the game (I’ll give you a hint, he started DJ’ing in 1999). Download this track and check out his new EP Face of God over at his site, www.rd-sound.com. Ladies and gentlemen… R/D!

This remix is BOMB!! I get this beat stuck in my head every single time I listen to it… which is a lot! Thoko is an amazing DJ and he is always pushing tracks like these. Not to mention that Message in a Bottle is one of the greatest songs of all times anyways. He has improved upon it by making it a track that you can now bring to a party and dance the night away to. Lovin’ this mix and therefore, letting the rest of the world (you guys) listen and take with you as well!
