This track is dedicated to my girl, Eliza M. This is a fast paced, catchy, and overall good-vibe mashup from DJ Philistine throwing How Low up against Shine On. I’ve had this track sitting in my library for a couple months now, and I realized that with summer winding down, this would be a great opportunity to post it. The songs work surprisingly well together, and unless you didn’t know the originals, I could actually see this being an authentic party track. Again with the MashMaticians! I can’t seem to stop downloading their songs because all of them are so sick! This one is no exception! I already love the song That Tree by Cudi but this song is something really different. Its much more mellow and definitely something to lay back and relax to. With the remix, it almost seems like Kid Cudi’s deliverance is a little emphasized which is something I really love to hear in remixes! So please, continue the support for this Princeton based duo and download below!

Here’s another solid mashup I found yesterday at work, throwing Wu Tang up against The Beatles. Sounds like an unlikely combination, but Tom Caruana, the mash artist from Britain, delivers a solid track. The song flows, the rap fits perfectly on top of the background sample, and the whole song feels unified and complete. This mashup from Mochi Beats dropped 3 days ago, and I gotta say, I’m real impressed with this one. First of all, the mash uses tracks that I’ve never heard in a mashup before, making for a new, refreshing experience. No Lil’ Wayne, isn’t that nice? The track samples from the songs “We Used to Wait” by Arcade Fire, “Whatever You Want” by Kanye West and Consequence, Christina Perri’s “Jar of Hearts”, and Cassette Kids “Lying Around.” The first 7 seconds are annoying, everything after that gets dope. So here it is, an EXCLUSIVEpre-release of The MashMatician’s first full length album! But first here’s a short bio: The MashMaticians are a duo comprised of DJ Zesty and Gudda Gallin. They formed the mash up group in late 2009 to take their first venture into the world of mash ups . They look for unique and unusual mixes for their mash ups giving listeners a new way of hearing their favorite songs. The MashMaticians will be adding a third member to the group moving forward as well as doing shows with some of the biggest names in the DJ and Mash Up world.
As you can tell, these guys are obviously blowing up on the mash-up scene and I am so stoked to have this exclusive for them! Here’s a little bit about what these two have to say about there new album title: The MashoChist is the debut album for the group. The album title comes from the word “Masochist” which is someone who enjoys or derives pleasure from receiving pain or punishment. A MashoChist, therefore, is someone who enjoys mash ups, or who derives pleasure from listening to them. By flipping the switch on the word “Masochist” the album not only reflects who The MashMaticians are but also who their fans are.
This duo has been crankin’ out bangin’ mash-ups for almost a year now and show no signs of letting up. These are not the usual songs that you hear getting thoughtlessly shoved into one mish-mash of gnarly sounding pop culture… No these are something entirely different. The MashMaticians actually take some time to make sure these songs are perfect and flow through your speakers without sounding chopped up. I spotted this new track at The White Panda’s blog today and I think you guys will like this. I was going to wait to push this with the next Mashup Monday, but hey, I’m here to deliver new music, while it’s new. Ok, before you assume, take a listen to this track. I know… Fireflies is that song that no one will really admit to enjoying while listening to it even though all of us find ourselves humming it at some point later that day. BUT! I just found this track that may have solved all of our problems. This mash-up throws some Lil Wayne lyrics on top of the sounds and beats of Fireflies. Give it a few minutes and see how seamlessly these two songs come together.
