Super Mash Bros dropped off their newest project, Mile(y) High Club, yesterday and it’s sure to liven up your weekends. These guys are relative mashup veterans, and this new project highlights a bunch of new samples as well as some older classics. Not every track on here really impressed me, so I’ve picked out my favorites and highlighted them individually above – if you want to listen to the rest, download the whole tape below.

New from the Super Mash Bros, a track-heavy new mashup, ¡Holy Guacamole!. Dropped on Earmilk last night, the track crashed servers, sent mashup fans into mass-panic, and became the center of conversation on Facebook and Twitter. There’s a few parts in this one that I can’t really stand, but it’s balanced with some of the best mashup sections I’ve heard in a while. Definitely worth a listen, if just to name the samples!

Mashup Monday No. 40

Mashup Monday No. 40

I got lots of party tracks for ya (in my opinion). New stuff from Dotcom, DJ Rudy, (two guys I’m keeping my eye on for the future because I expect big things from them), an album preview track from Basic Physics, and a track from DJ Trademarks’ Clean Cuts EP, and a couple more.

I have a soft spot for Dotcom’s track and for Not Some Kid’s track. Dotcom’s track just flows nicely and progresses smoothly throughout the track, while Not Some Kid’s just throws me back in time listening to Tag Team and The Darkness. If I could listen to “Hot Whoomp!” during my elementary days of Jump Rope for Heart, then I could easily say I would’ve jumped more than I normally did.  Basic Physics “Lift Off Album Preview” is a segmented track that takes various parts of his upcoming album and gives us a sneak peek of what to expect. Definitely expect to see that come up later when released. And Vico Ono’s track just gives me the chills…must be because of the dubstep bass and Avicii.

It was just a matter of time until SRV met Kelly Clarkson again, this time taking on Since U Been Gone. I don’t think Sex Ray Vision overdid this one at all – they really found a good balance of keeping the original feel of the piece while also putting their style on the track. It’s a fun listen, especially for any Kelly Clarkson fans out there. Take a listen and download for free.

Here’s a new mashup from the lovely Jane Doze. Slow, beautiful, and creative, I’m really enjoying this mashup. Lana Del Rey heads up the vocal department with bits and pieces of Rihanna, Calvin Harris, and of course Afrojack and Aoki’s No Beef. Great production, an awesome listen, and definitely a shake up to your usual mashup – don’t miss Born to Feel Beef by The Jane Doze.

Mashup Monday No. 39

Mashup Monday No. 39

It’s Monday night which means a perfect time to listen to Mashup Monday to wind down or get the night started. I got some chill mashups and I got some party tracks. I got some classic samples and some new samples. Above all, I got the mashups that should be brought to your attention.

U2 has always been a childhood favorite of mine. Couldn’t tell you how many car rides I had to take while listening to U2, or spring cleaning sessions in which the Madre had the speakers on blast. Now, Divide & Kreate puts U2 together with Swedish House Mafia to give “Where The Streets Have No Name” a House/Electro feel. Definitely feeling this 1v1 mashup, and would easily classify it as a must-download. Another track that is a somewhat surprising combination is Koyote’s “Symphony Fighter”. Beethoven’s “5th Symphony” (thanks to Wolfgang Gartner) is given a completely new meaning when mashed with Digital Feq’s “Street Fighter”. Combining classical music with a classic game = win in my book.

Concluding the mashups is a chill mash from DJ Fergie Ferg that is absolutely perfect to end the night with; one track from Dibella‘s Binge Infringement EP that will bring that party atmosphere back instantaneously; and an interesting mash from Greek artist Bynar that has a relaxing quality to it but at the same time is also successful in raising my energy levels. So get to Kollecting, get to liking the artist’s Facebook pages, and leave comments below so I can better serve all you Mashup Kollectors.

Iz You Rollin’ – D.veloped

Jan. 27 – the expected release date for D.veloped’s Work : Party mixtape. Been waiting for this for awhile, and now D.veloped drops a simplified version of one section of the mixtape. “Iz You Rollin’” is a bass-heavy, electro infused hip-hop mash that will certainly rock the subs off your system. I’ve been told by D.veloped himself that this isn’t the final/complete version of the track, but rather just a teaser for what we can expect from the mixtape…which I’m more than fine with. So Kollect this perfect Friday night party track, go like D.veloped’s new FB page, and enjoy the promo vid for D.veloped’s upcoming mixtape below.

Fixing Titanium – Mashup Germany

Mashup Germany dropped this one a few days ago, and man, what a mashup. This is no party track or overplayed top-40 crap. Sure, it’s got Coldplay and Guetta, but put on top of Mika, with a touch of Elvis – it doesn’t get much more beautiful and relaxing than this. Beautiful production; I love the change of tempo from the other mashups out there and Mashup Germany’s willingness to keep exploring new styles. Download this for free above!

Samples:
Mika – Any other world
David Guetta feat. Sia – Titanium
Coldplay – Fix you
Elvis Presley – Can’t help falling in love
