Video Games – Collin McLoughlin (Lana Del Rey Cover Video)

Collin McLoughlin lost me for a while there, but his latest incredibly organic covers have restored my faith in this naturally talented artist. Recorded, produced, mixed and sung all by Collin, this LDR cover incorporates a little drum-tap and sung “oohs” that wade in the background, capping off this self-arranged, beautifully pure work. Unwind to this, and vote to help Collin win a chance to perform at the Billboard Music Awards!

I don’t think think he’s released an Mp3 (yet), but you can catch up with everything he does musically via his Facebook page (linked above!) Thanks!

NOS (Live Mashup) – Dub Tech + Video

With the amount of mashups I hear, it’s becoming harder and harder to truly impress me. Yet, there is always a hidden gem that I stumble upon sooner or later. The hidden gem for today is this spectacular live mashup by Jacob Andreou aka Dub Tech. With the help of Ableton, his Novation Launchpad, and a month of preparation Dub Tech created “NOS”. Hailing from Vancouver, Dub Tech was inspired by Madeon’s Pop Culture video, which took the blogosphere by storm 8 months ago, and decided to make his own live mashup video. Is it on par with Madeon? Probably not, but I would argue that it is great in its’ own right. Jacob makes sure to use a variety of samples and employs them in a creative manner to get you instantly hooked. Case in point: Macklemore’s “And We Danced” instrumental for an intro? Heck yeah. So take a listen, watch the video, and grab the track exclusively on The Kollection.

it’s no Madeon, but there’s some well done cuts in there

Back to New (3LAU Remix Preview) – James Egbert

Here is a preview video for 3LAU’s first major remix (to be released on Beatport in April), a smooth progressive take on James Egbert’s Back to New. I really love the sound of 3LAU’s, and can’t wait to hear the final version. Take a peek below and listen to his live recording of his set at Congress Theatre Chicago!

          Numbers – Logic Video

“It’s been a year and everything I said would happen has. New school style, with old school bars like Alcatraz.”

Yesterday during class, I took it upon myself to whip out my phone and watch Logic‘s third single/video, “Numbers”, from his upcoming tape – my bad behavior was suddenly well-justified. You’ll hear a noticeable change in Logic’s tone, boasting an undeniable Drake quality as he draws out some of his phrases/words. I enjoyed this switch-up from his usual light speed/bouncy pace, as it allows us to see his versatility. At the end of the day, the kid is incredibly determined and ambitious – and that, I love. Support the DMV artist’s strong release by watching, here on the K.

At 150,000 views, the Visionary music group will release the official track mp3, so keep watching!

West Side Story [Video] – Upper West

No, not the musical. Okay, I admit it, I stole that line from Upper West’s feature in The Huffington Post. Yes, the Huffington Post. But back to the video. I’m sure all of you are still wallowing in the amazing that was Upper West’s debut mixtape, West Side Stories, but they quickly drop off the video to one of the headlining tracks. The video is introduced by Jessie(half of the duo) on the keys, and is then taken over by Doug(the other half) on the verses. Classic Upper West style, a little bit of a poppy sound, but nothing that makes you want to shoot your radio. The video takes us around the beautiful Big Apple, and was directed by the man, the myth, the legend, Jon Kilmer. Stop by and like their facebook page, and enjoy the video.

Vocal Layout Idea – Terence Ryan Video

Just released via his Tumblr is Terence Ryan‘s visual work for the rock-infused “Vocal Layout Idea”, just off his debut Skeletons EP. This is not necessarily the next video I would have predicted for the artist, but he fully delivers and executes his own interesting concept with help from chosen director, Ryan Sheetz. I love the ending special effects (credit to Ben Pacocha), which help solidify the entire idea. Kollect on.
