Be Alone (Prod. By TheGeekSquad) – Jetpack Jones Ft. Cliff Savage

Jetpack Jones is not an emcee I cover frequently, in fact I’ve never published his music personally even once before. “Be Alone” is clearly about to change that. First, TheGeekSquad’s hiphop-tinged production makeover of the Two Door Cinema Club beat (guitar + light percussion + bass = win) makes this track – but the rappers aren’t too shabby either. Jet’s deep tone is smooth, while Cliff’s reminds me of Tyga. Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think – Happy Sunday!

Carribean Song – Young Science

Today I present to you more talent from Dub Rock Records. The response from the Twin City post inspired me to share more information with you about the awesome music everyone from Dub Rock is putting out! Young Science is a group that is the perfect blend of synth-filled dance tracks that are sure to fuel your summer raging. Carribean Song has been the most played track from their Debut EP, and I’m sure it will be yours too! It has a tropical feel, as well as melodic synths that carry you away dreaming about summer, which is so close! This specific song reminds me somewhat of The Secret Handshake (Remember ‘Summer of ’98?!), which gives a nostalgic feel, despite it being relatively new. Enjoy!

Just For Tonight – Twin City

The other day I was scouring the internet for new music, and I stumbled on a band by the name of Twin City. If you are a fan of reggae/rock/alternative music, then you may be familiar with one of my favorite groups, The Holdup. Well to my surprise, I discovered that one of the lead singers of Twin City is none other than Mike Garmany, the lead vocalist for The Holdup; The other being James Melo of Young Science. So now I have a new addiction that I have to share with all of you. One of the tracks that stands out to me is titled “Just For Tonight,” which includes a sample of R.E.M’s “Losing My Religion.” It’s a little slower-paced than a lot of material we feature here on The Kollection, but I think with summer rapidly approaching this is the perfect song to play at a backyard barbecue, yeah? Make sure to throw Twin City a like on Facebook, as well as download their mixtape!

Tomorrow – Eddy B & Tim Gunter + Video

Eddy B & Tim Gunter saw an amazing response from blogs and fans following their release of the single, “Tomorrow,” a few weeks ago. Because of the hype that surrounded the track, they decided to hook the fans up with a video for our viewing pleasure!

The song is a heartfelt one from the duo that explains the struggles and hardships that Eddy experienced growing up in the hood. It hasn’t been an easy journey thus far, but the team is taking big steps towards become household names in the music industry. Props, as always, to Tim for creating a beat that fits perfectly with the tone of the song to create something somber, yet intricate for Eddy to spit over.

Party Girl ft. Meek Mill – Asher Roth

Asher dropped this new collaboration with Meek Mill yesterday, flipping Eddie Murphy’s Party All the Time into an Asher Roth signature tune. Heavy lows, slow and emphatic lyrics make this one stand out to me. This track will drop today on iTunes and we’ll hopefully get a closer look at Asher’s new album.

Tic Tac Toe – Logic

Logic just dropped this new track, Tic Tac Toe, as the final release before Young Sinatra: Undeniable drops later this Spring. Not sure what it is about this song, but I’ve been hooked since the first listen. Logic is smooth as ever, going over a darker beat than we’re used to. I love the production on this, Logic’s flow, and yes, even that hook is undeniably catchy. Downloads are free – get it now!
