Timeflies Tuesday is arguably the best day of the week. With Timeflies on tour, it sparks some seriously awesome inspiration for the famous freestyles that Rez and Cal put together. Alcohol is quickly climbing its way to the top 3 Timeflies Tuesdays in my book. An upbeat remix to the Jamie Foxx anthem has a club-like feel, and Cal’s bars are witty and creative as per usual. Enjoy!

The Spotlight – Logic + Video

Nobody does it better than Logic. Well, in my opinion at least…

For this new video, Young Sinatra hops on the timeless sample D.A.N.C.E. by Justice and completely tears it apart with that classic Logic flow! Logic shows a little more of his upbeat style on this track, and makes it a true challenge for all you fans to not want to just dance! This kid has the lyrics, the grind and everything you need to make it in the game, with that being said there is not a single mixtape that is more highly anticipated, for me, this year.

Now the real question is, who does the sample better, Logic or other fellow DMV emcee, Wale? Let us know in the comments!

On a side note, the official mp3 will be released when the video hits 100,000 views so be sure to share it and show your friends so that we can bump this on our iPods!

Wow. This might just be my new favorite G-Eazy track. Gerald Gillum proves yet again he knows what kind of instrumental will lure listeners in; Dominique LeJeune brings a chillingly beautiful aura to the track. Those candid rhymes from a raspy G [here mainly about bad timing] are always a great contrast to whatever wispy vocal he chooses to incorporate. Either way, everything from the subject matter to the title of this track are in touch with who this artist is evolving into. Catch G at the Vans Warped Tour soon, and Kollect the track below!

We first featured Fall Back in March of 2011, and it was met with a great response. Just under a year later, YONAS drops off the official video: an elegant, intriguing, and beautifully filmed piece of art that really makes the music shine. Both the production on the song and video are amazing and worth a view. No download on this one, so support YONAS on iTunes and grab The Proven Theory!

Norwegian Recycling dropped his latest mashup last night, another moving tribute to the late Whitney Houston. Whitney does a beautiful job of mixing several Whitney vocal samples on top of pop hits from Florence and the Machine, Bruno Mars, and the instrumental from Adele’s Set Fire to the Rain. I’ve always appreciated Norwegian Recycling’s touch in the mashup game – he really does a great job staying away from the trends and producing more unique tracks. This one is no different – watch the official mashup video below and download for free!

Sample List:

Adele – Fire To The Rain
Whitney Houston – How Will I Know
Whitney Houston – I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)
Whitney Houston – So Emotional
Florence And The Machine – You Got The Love
Bruno Mars – Grenade

This new track from Bobby Ray dropped last evening on Youtube as an audio preview and on iTunes as a single (already in the top 10!), and it’s made me even more excited for Strange Clouds, expected to drop May 1. Not gonna lie, this is pretty catchy, and I won’t be surprised to see this take over the radio within a couple weeks – so peep below and grab the single before the rest of the world!

Mashup Monday No. 43

Mashup Monday No. 43

Time to start off the week with an ample size of mashups ranging from some hip-hop to heavy EDM-style to more chill vibed mash. Frankly, I had some trouble cutting down the list (started with like 12 tracks) and all I managed to do was get it down to 7. Starting us off is a new artist (to me) that goes by the name of Silent Murda. Silent takes a variety of hip hop samples and combines The Weeknd’s passionate and soulful vocals with the lyrical gangster flow of Biggie, Tupac, Big L, and Wale. Props to my boy Zach over at FMI for showing me this track.

The second track I want to highlight is that of TeeTs. I’ve become accustomed to his fast-paced, heavy EDM style mashes but he shows us diversity by giving something a little bit more chill. Still interesting, thanks to the instrumentals provided by Ronald Jenkees (I highly recommend checking out the original video here) mashed with some R&B vocals of Craig David and Ne-Yo. Personally, I loved Craig David’s vocals on top of the instrumental because it just captures your attention and adds some emotional connection. Other tracks include an older mash that uses some Deadmau5, Kanye, and others; a high-octane/fast-paced mash of Doug Bogan that will surely get your pulse racing; a track from Ridgewood Social Club’s new album – check it out here; and more.

Charlie Brown (Arnar Ingason Bootleg Mix) – Coldplay

Here’s a new Coldplay remix making the rounds through the scene, a bootleg to a less-played track, Charlie Brown. Arnar Ingason is, incredibly, a 15 year old DJ and producer from Iceland. This bootleg is beautiful, uplifting, and euphoric. Beautiful synths, and a driving bass line really push this song forward, and I’ve found myself nodding along several times today. I look forward to hearing more from this young artist – follow along with me on Facebook.
