Vava Voom [Album Review] – Bassnectar
Its been a good last couple days for music – Datsik’s new album, Hoodie’s current #1 All American EP, the bangin’ Lollapalooza lineup, and now this, Bassnectar’s 9th Studio Album entitled Vava Voom. You can’t put a singular genre on Bassnectar, and I think that’s what makes him so good. He is always pushing himself to new heights, expanding genres and pushing the limits of music. Reflecting on his past 9 albums, you’ll see a noticeable difference in style with each project, something I think is important for an artist.
Vava Voom is an impressive and diverse 11 song album filled with heavy bass rap-infused anthems (Vava Voom, Ugly, Ping Pong, What) and Melodic synth-y bangers (Empathy, Butterfly, Nothing has Been Broken). Along with these is the mandatory dope ill.Gates collab as well as my personal favorite, the rock influenced bass-infused high energy track Pennywise Tribute. Again, I can’t stress enough the diversity of Vava Voom. Datsik’s Vitamin D is a good album no doubt, but is it very diverse? Not so much. This may seem like a rushed review but I believe that for something like this, there’s only so much you can hear from me. COP this album.
