Here is a “chillstep” take on the amazing Fleet Foxes folkies by Kansas City’s Barbaric Merits, released back in 2010 (so yes, it is “old”!). Somehow, its wavelengths are just now seeping into my ears and I must say this is a rather tasteful remix of a gorgeous song like “Mykonos”. It’s not overdone, just how I like my chilled out Dubstep. Ellie Goulding is amazing. Dubstep remixes are hot. Your Song brings the best of both worlds into one amazingly laid back track, filled with smooth bass and some wonderful Ellie vocals. I’m only sad that it’s taken so long for this feature on the K! Enjoy.

In the past six months, there have been just over thirty dubstep tracks featured here on the K, making up a relatively small pool of songs for our top ten pick. However, after a quick evaluation of your ratings and the download count of our songs, choosing the top ten was pretty obvious. For all you dubstep fans out there, we will soon be welcoming a new author to The Kollection who has a particular taste for bass and wobbles. Stay tuned for 2K11!

A fun holiday song with a twist! I didn’t know what to think about this song when I first saw it, but after listening to it a few times I’ve decided that it needed to be shared. Kinetics & One Love are able to create a unique track with new lyrics for a classic song. I hope everyone can find this song as amusing as I do.

Hypnotize U (Nero Remix) – N.E.R.D.

Nero remixes the popular Hypnotize U by N.E.R.D. and does a sick job. In my opinion this is a lot better than the original. It’s faster paced and has better instrumentals. It has a lot more energy and I think that’s just what this song needed. Solid lyrics and erie vocals courtesy of N.E.R.D.

I never thought I would see a mashup with dubstep but I guess there’s a first time for everything. Everyone’s Staryy Eyed, Sayin’ Yeah is appropriately named where LJC mashes Ellie Goulding’s Starry Eyed with Wiz Khalifa’s Say Yeah. It’s a crazy good mashup of two really popular songs and it has dubstep! What more can you ask for? Grab this one and play it at a party, you’ll blow everyone away.

Wildstyle Method feat. 40 Love (Radio Edit) – Bassnectar

A fairly new dubstep track, Wildstyle Method by Bassnectar should fulfill you’re need for lots of bass. If you can’t get enough dubstep then check out The Dubstep Collective. It can cater to all of your speaker blowing needs. One of my favorite dubstep songs is Magical World by Bassnectar. This track doesnt quite live up to it but it’ll get you to bwomp your face off none the less. Wildstyle Method has a really interesting intro that catches my attention everytime it comes on. Constantly building up the tension untill the main drop is what bass artists do best and Bassnectar is no stranger to the game. Like most dubstep tracks the major bass drops about a minute in. Crank the volume and turn up the bass for this one.

The church choir background always gets to me – it’s slow and dark, just the way I like my music. Questions by D. Montayne is a Mt. Eden Dubstep remix, and admittedly one of the very few dubstep/rap remixes I’ll ever post here on the K. The song is elegant, tasteful, and beautifully composed. I grabbed this track off of Glitch Drop a little while back, and has remained at the top of my playlist for quite sometime as a relaxing dubstep/electronic song. As Woodz so nicely puts it:

What I love about this song is how the beat is the focus. The synths and effects are present but not the focus, and for that, it stands out.

Teach Me How to Dubstep – 5 & A Dime

So this song starts off pretty cool. And unfortunately I have to say that as it goes on it feels somewhat repetitive. If you’re a dubstep fan then this is a nice listen. And if you’re a “Teach Me How to Dougie” fan like me, you may want to stick to the original song.
