This might be the easiest song you’ll listen to for the rest of the year. It might also turn into your favorite morning musical accompaniment. Emma Louise is a sheer, whimsical delight and pleasure to hear, as she pours out all sorts of wonderfulness on her stunning single, “Boy”. Her graceful tone is without a single flaw, and the intricate details in this instrumental are just lovely. This won’t be the last time we’ll allow this vocal to caress us – this will be a big year for Ms. Louise.

Colorado’s funky electronic powerhouse, Pretty Lights, released this freebie the other day. It possesses plenty of soul, intertwined in the usual mixture of chopped vocal samples, guitar, piano, bass… the list goes on. I can’t say this sounds unlike anything we’ve heard before from Mr. Derek Vincent Smith, but I can’t deny the great vibes it projects. You also can’t help but chuckle when you notice the length of this one!

Dylan Owen, one of the great storytellers of his rapping generation, has released his video for “In the Corner” from the recent successful K.Y.F.C. mixtape. Like the piano-driven track, this video keeps it simple with its visualizations but paints a clear picture of love and loss. Those high-pitched vocals on the chorus add a chilling factor, but we more importantly can’t ignore Owen’s incredible, perfectly-enunciated lyrical delivery that’s stolen attention since day one. Sheer dreaminess emanates from this shiny new single from Goldroom (a one-man show comprised of LA resident, Josh Legg), whom I’ve featured once before here on the K. I’m thrilled to see the success of this latest Summer sunset-ready work (almost 100,000 plays in 5 days?!), as it is well-deserved. This should inspire you to smile and reflect, even if you don’t like 80s-inspired tunes. Flowing synths over Goldroom’s classic island vibe… Chela’s smooth vocal… These combinations scream a kind of sentimentality that’s hard to achieve.     Do I See Color (Big Gigantic Remix) – Adventure Club

    There have been very few “Do I See Color” reworks, probably because the Adventure Club original has a lot going on with its prolific vocal chops and pounding bass. Colorado’s Big Gigantic took their chances, but the result is a huge Jazz-infused interpretation with excellent saxophone melodies (courtesy of Dominic Lalli) that really characterize this as a BG track. I thought it was all a bit much at first, but I’m warming up to this ambitious effort – after all, it is AC-approved! Sound off in the comments, and grab the download here for free!
