Dreams Up – Hoodie Allen

Hoodie Allen has done it again! Dreams Up is the epitome of a classic Hoodie song. It has quick rapping, witty lyrics, a catchy chorus, and an amazing sampling hook that are all signature to a Hoodie Allen hit. His upcoming mixtape, Leap Year, has a lot to live up to after Pep Rally, but if Dreams Up is a sign of things to come, I think we’ll be more than satisfied.

Listen to it a few times through. This is Hoodie at his best.

Some songs have a great beat, but the flow and rhythm from the singer/rapper just doesn’t go, and some songs have a great flow from the singer/rapper, and the beat is just off.

This song isn’t like that at all. The flow is in PERFECT tune with the beat. Next time I’m in the studio, I”m gonna remember this one and try to fuse my flow and whatever beat we can come up with. From an artist’s standpoint, this track is SICK

You Can Run ft. Kid Cudi – Bryan Greenberg

A lot of Kollectors have been asking for more acoustic music on the site and their prayers have been answered. You Can Run has a slow melody and decent lyrics. The song features Kid Cudi but his presence is minor if that. The song could stand alone without the man on the moon, but his single verse will carry the song to the popularity it deserves. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more acoustic music on the K in the future.

I have to say I’m loving that you’re thinking of putting more acoustic based songs. “You Can Run” and “Sounds Like Hallelujah” are playing on my itunes non stop. Keep bringing these laid back acoustics!

The quote on quote “new” song for this week’s episode of Throwback Thursday is Work by Kristoff Krane. Those Atmosphere fans out there can appreciate this one because it features Slug who spits a decent verse right before the chorus. The catchy instrumentals and Slug’s presence really carry the song.

What stands out most in this song are the lyrics. The Kidz In The Hall are quick and witty with their rhymes and know how to structure a verse around dope instrumentals. This song stands out in particular and their abilities as rappers really shines.

Probably my favorite Big Sean song, What U Doin? is filled with witty lyrics and appropriate background noises to add to Big Sean’s humor. Every line to this song is memorable so if you haven’t downloaded this one yet, you know what to do! Grab it below.

We’re compiling one for this week, it’s been a tough stretch for mashups. Quality over quantity! But thanks for the comment, we’ll have a new volume out soon!

All of the Lights (Kanye West Cover) – The Northern Lights

It was only a matter of time before songs from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy were either remixed or covered. This is one of the first ones I’ve come across and I was impressed. Covers can be hit or miss but this ones a keeper. A refreshing twist to the popular Kanye West track, the Northern Lights add some new verses and replace Rihanna with their own female vocalist. Check out some of the other covers we have here.

Party.edu (Ft. Ratatat) – The Neeks

The more I listened to this track the more I appreciated it. You guys liked The Neeks song Forever Mine with the relaxing atmosphere it created but this song goes in the opposite direction. This time they take the popular Ratatat song Loud Pipes and integrate some verses for the typical party track. The hook is pretty decent and their flow is consistent all the way through.

Teach You To Fly – Wiz Khalifa

Teach You To Fly was Wiz Khalifa‘s top track off of his album Flight School but it wasn’t finished. It was a great song but only lasted about a minute. Now we finally have the finished and full version of the song. Just as catchy as the original, the new version has Wiz fitting in another verse.
