Giants – Josh Osho ft. Childish Gambino

I started watching this video just to see the Childish Gambino feature, but I left being a Josh Osho fan. This guy has some incredible pipes, and even though Childish drops an awesome feature, it certainly isn’t the highlight of this track. Unfortunately we don’t have a download, but feel free to throw this video on repeat.

Josh Osho needs way more recognition in my opinion. I remember watching “Giants” with 350,000 views and seeing Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap” in the recommended videos section with 15 million views. I mean really?

Both of Us – B.o.B ft. Taylor Swift

Here’s a new leak from Bobby Ray, featuring Taylor Swift on the hook, Both of Us. This track is going to get a ton of hate just because of the names, but you know what, it’s good. Sure, it’s slower, pop-heavy, and geared for radio-play, but as a collaboration and track, I think B.o.B and Taylor did a fantastic job. Preorder Strange Clouds now!

Update: We were asked to take down the player stream. Looks like Warner is cracking down…

      Kollection v3

As many of you know, yesterday was quite the day at Kollection HQ. We were gearing up for the launch of the new design, when suddenly an entire database of content was deleted. Surprise! Our previous backup was made on February 21st…You can imagine our excitement.

As a result, we’ve been scrambling for the last ten hours to work with our host, developers, and team to fix as much of the site as possible. So here we are, Kollection version three, in all its (painful) glory!

      What’s New?

      1. The site is super fresh and clean. We’ve stripped away all the unnecessary crap from version 2, focused on the essentials of the blog, and only included what you need to listen to and download music as quickly and easily as possible. We made finding related music easy and genre sorting a breeze. We want you to explore your favorite sounds, artists, and styles, so we made it easier than ever.

      2. All of our genres are integrated! That’s right – we’ve moved everything from the Dubstep Kollection, Indie Kollection, and Electro Kollection over to a happy home here on the main site. We realized that we were posting too much good music on the branches that weren’t being seen by all you music lovers, so we’ve integrated everything into one smooth stream.

As a result, get ready for more daily posts from a wider array of genres. If you were a regular dubstep, electro, or indie listener – don’t worry! Just look at the top of the page for your favorite genre to hide everything else.

      3. The popular songs widget in the right sidebar is new! We hacked together a nice tool that will show you the most viewed songs in the last week, month, and year. Give this one some time to start tracking pageviews.

      4. OH NO! Where’s all the content! You’ll notice that on several recent posts all of the text descriptions are gone! These descriptions were the only things we couldn’t salvage out of the server wipe yesterday. Fortunately, this only goes back until February 21st – in the meantime, we’ve made sure to put in all our players and downloads so that you won’t miss a beat.

      Patience, young ones…

The new design is here, but we’re certainly not finished making The Kollection the best it can be. We’ve got a bunch of upgrades coming in the next few days and weeks that will improve load time and create a better user experience. We’re also going through our entire archive of content to make sure our older posts are available for listening and downloading – just hang in there!

      We Love You All

We love all of The Kollection fans, and without you we would just be lonely music lovers shouting into the interwebs. You have guided us through the past two years, shaping the growth of the site, and standing by our side whenever we encountered technical problems. For that, we thank you, as sincerely as possible.

Keep your eyes peeled for a ton of giveaways in the next few days as we approach 20,000 Facebook likes!

Wow, looks great. I just hope that the main website does not have too many posts now to look through if I don’t check the site everyday. Beware, don’t want to be like some of the other music blogs that post too much music where it just becomes a chore to sift through so much material to find one song you like.

Love the integration of all genres in to one stream. No more hearts? haha

I like most of the changes. However, bringing back the hearts rating system and the big red download buttons would be a good idea, as it gave the whole site a more fun, cohesive feel. Also, the new fonts are aliasing in chrome…

Will, if you know you aren’t a fan of Dubstep (for example), just hide that branch and only select those that you’d be interested in sifting through. Most genres will only have 2-3 posts each per day, just like before! Glad you like our new look :)

I liked when the title/artist was at the top of the post, not under the picture. So it was the first thing you saw when scrolling down.

                      HEARTS!!

HEARTS! Also it’d be nice for the posts on main site to also say the genre of each post for convenience purposes.

                        Believe In Me – Outasight

This beauty dropped on April 2nd, and I’m proud to be sharing it here on The Kollection. Believe In Me is a huge step forward for Outasight, a more mature sounding, beautiful, and thoughtful track. It’s pop, blended with soul, indie, electronic, and most importantly, that unique Outasight vocal sound. This one is available for free, a great present to the fans. Take a listen below and download this for your life playlist.

Back to the Future – Mashup Germany

Mashup Germany released his sixth mashup album yesterday, Back to the Future, featuring 20 mashups (ten new, ten previously released). This is an impressive piece of work that I’m still soaking in. There’s a ton of creative samples, combinations, and track compositions, all worth a listen and a download. Below are a few of my favorites from the album – take a listen, or just grab the whole tape!

Music video is very cool. Drake is still garbage.
